Joey First

     Pop Culture                                   Bourgoise Mundane

In Joey First's own words:

I am currently a one-person postpunk performer. Despite claims of being watered down, I have kept my head on straight and stayed out of the real punk scene for quite some time by taking care of my mom and actively supporting people, animals, the earth, and philosopy despite my occasional struggles with being too aggresive. I am peaceful and I have managed to reject the punk label when appropriate by standing in front of the punks and their rights to being treated with dignity and respect when deemed appropriate -

After a rough life as a violent revolutionary punk rocker in my teen years, I finally got my life together by deciding to go to college and rediscover my teen dance club roots in indie rock music, alternative, and postpunk. This was mainly influenced by my near-death experiences. I was almost driven off a bridge during my brief stint with drunkpunk when I was 17 and I was almost killed by a revolutionary grunge band when I was 21 while enduring the shock of my father's passing away. Everything just seemed to hit me hard all through my life and I really got blamed all through my life for my ignorance, plus I still do.
After realizing that revolutionary violence is stupid after a brief stay in jail and a threat from the state mental asylum, I decided to calm down.
These two records are documents of my Beatles and Lennon influences also.
I am attempting to combine lo-fi postpunk with Paul Mccartney influences. My goals are the same. To document my own struggle in life to become a smarter person from my own perspective, noone else's.
I am a pacifist and I have also become a bit religious after discovering God with
a failed attempt at being a Godless druggie and alcohol abuser. After enduring suicidal desperation, I am now clean and sober. I could have learned by studying and listening to music and bands. I never needed drugs or alcohol for anything.
This music reflects my spiritual, political activist experiences and my not-so-wild behavior with and without women plus my interpretation and criticisms of pop culture. Take it or leave it. Say what you must. It is what it is. Peace :)

Musical Influences:

Took My Baby Away), The Beatles (The White Album - crazy huh?), and John Lennon's (Shaved Phish), Revolutionary rock for entertainment purposes only.

Likes:
Nice people who are accepting of the way I look.

Dislikes:
Problems derivative of unGod-like attitudes not people.
Examples:
People who try to bribe me to conform or be just like them or they will take my opportunities away.
Women who break up too easily or angry women who take it out on me.
Women or girls who are paranoid of me for no reason or are unwilling to communicate to work it out and they start attacking me.
Women who try to get me to risk my life to be courageous.
People who think I'm gay or a faggot.
Macho men looking to get arrested.
People who can't handle criticism and they start getting violent.
People who have no sense of humor about themselves.
Poeple who won't try to change if it is important to help us all.
People who hate people and animals and want to kill them.
People who hate God and themselves.
People who are greedy.

Explanation:
I basically think mean people are just scared of changing so they want people to be like them. They want to fight and kill rather than just work it out slowly or they just want to be alone or try to change slowly. That is O.K. I wish they would just leave people and animals alone and just try to be like peace and God, not the evil world. I am praying for them. I love and care about them and I know they will survive as long as they have faith. We are survivors in this post-911 apocalyptic world!
